Overseas Filipino Workers - Canada Needs More Of Them
Reports coming from the Philippine Overseas Employment Agency (OFW) in Manila indicated that Canada have signified hiring more Overseas Filipino Workers.
According to the POEA chief, Rosalinda Baldoz, a group of Canadian employers are in the Philippines with expressed intention of hiring more overseas Filipino workers.
Baldoz also stressed that recruitment will have to go through licensed recruitment agencies in the Philippines and prohibits charging the applicants for placement fees.
Most of the employers present in the recruitment mission in Manila are from the cities of Regina and Saskatoon, both in the province of Saskatchewan.
Some Canadian provinces have signed agreements with the Philippine government regarding more access for Filipino workers for employment in Canadian businesses having trouble with their local recruitment efforts.

Hi, I have met some of our fellow kababayans who came here, V(ictoria BC Canada). Many of them came on a work permit either as a Carpenter, Hotel workers, or Cleaners, or at Tim Horton’s, there are apparently 15 pinoys/pinays who were recruited from Italy. For sure, there are lots of job vacancies where there are no takers so they go and recruit from outside of Canada. Mind you, where i work there are lots of shortages especially in the Trades Industry.

Hi, i have few concerns
Firstly, I graduated as a Bachelor of Science and Information Technology. I am computer literate have knowledge in Lay-outing and Photo editing, but Im planning to apply as a Housekeeping in Canada so that it would be easy or possible for me to work there or just a stepping stone. As i inquired to some agencies here in our province they advised me that it would be better if i have a Certificate of Competency in Housekeeping field. So I enroll and will undergo for this kind of training. My question is, is it really required?
Then my coworker and i tried to apply as a Housekeeping to the other agency here, i put my skills in computer. But only my coworker has given a change to undergo the interview. She overheard that the agency is afraid to hire applicant which have many skills or over qualified. Because the applicant might only use them as a way to go Canada and when the applicant arrived there, their work would be different according to their applied position. Or else applicant could apply another field aside from what they applied. Thus i conclude that i wasn’t given a chance for an interview because of these reasons. What should i do?
I have doubt if i will put my other special skills or not for my next application. Yes because I know Canada really needs skillful applicant to load their vacancies and i believe the more skillful the more Canada like you. No because for the agency i would be over qualified for the kind of position and will not pass to their qualifications.

I do punching for embroidery machines (working on EOSv1 ,v2 and v3 Compucon punching system). I have 9yrs experience of this. In India I am working on machine (Barudan,Tajima) and also do punching for embroidery machine units.
I am looking for operator and punching job.
I have knowledge of every fabric on which embroidery has done.( Leather,Silk,Cotton, Knitted, Denim,Woollen Fabrics,Caps,Shirts,Tops,School Uniforms etc.) I almost do punching and embroidery of all the products on which embroidery has done.

I’ve been here in canada for more than 1 year now i came from the middle east and worked there for 12 years before i landed as an immigrant. Im an engineer by the way( who Cares), anyway my point is that as i observed canada now is also in recession its hard at the moment to hope, so if someone tells you that there are lots of vacancy here at the moment I don’t think so specially humihingi ng down payment sa processing. well a year ago its true, in fact i see a lot of contract workers here in edmonton but recently na recession din sila ( natangal sa work ). Its just a warning sa mga fake recruiters. maybe this comming year i hope mag jump up na naman ang economy then thats the sign. contract worker here in canada are true marami dito but not this time di nga nagrerelease ng LMO- working permit ang government ngayon stop lahat.
Just be patient my kabayans, if you find some work in the middle east for the mean time then go for it its a good training grounds.
